Submit Your Writing to The War Cry
We are pleased to invite writers to submit articles for consideration in The War Cry. Our upcoming selection window offers an opportunity to share stories, testimonies, reflections, and features that inform, inspire, and engage our readers. Writers are free to submit articles for consideration year-round. Article selection will occur during the period designated below.

Selection Period
July 15 – September 14
During this time, our editorial team will select original article submissions aligned with the mission and voice of The War Cry.
Compensation
- First rights: $0.35 per word
- Reprint rights: $0.25 per word
Payment will be based on accepted word count and rights purchased.
Review and Selection
All submissions will be carefully reviewed by our editorial team. Selected pieces will be announced by September 14.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking thoughtful, well-crafted writing that:
- Explores topics related to Christian living
- Focuses on devotional thoughts
- Highlights faith in action
- Shares compelling personal or community stories
- Addresses issues of hope, transformation, and service
- Reflects the mission and values of The Salvation Army
We look forward to reading your work and sharing powerful stories with our readers. Articles should be no more than 1,500 words.
Use of Artificial Intelligence
Firstly, because these tools cannot take accountability for such work, AI tools/large language models cannot be credited with authorship of any National Headquarters publication. Secondly, any use of AI tools within the development of a National Headquarters publication must be disclosed by the author(s) upon submission. Authors are allowed to use generative AI and AI-assisted technologies in the writing process before submission, but only to improve the language and readability of their writing.
